Star Wars Han Solo Prop Greeblie Original Found Item The Empire Strikes Back

  

This is not a screen-used item, but a original, vintage, exact-matching found item as prominently featured on the Han Solo torture rack prop in The Empire Strikes Back. The item is an extruded aluminum heat sink that was salvaged from Cold War era aerospace hardware such as industrial electronic and laboratory equipment. I have owned the piece since the 1990s as a cool find for my interest in original prop making.

I didn't discover the identical item on screen in The Empire Strikes Back until some years later. The unusual fins and shape of this heat sink led the prop designers for the film to place this greeblie front-and-center on the set piece prop (as seen in the reference photos) for the scene on Bespin/Cloud City where Darth Vader tortures Han Solo. It is an unusual and very rare prop item.
