They died when Rey was young, so Rey was forced to survive on her own. In Star Wars Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker, Rey embarked on a journey to find the dark world of Exegol, wanting to prevent the Sith from being reborn.

Upon confronting Darth Sidious, Rey, overcome with the Dark Side, died. Kylo Ren, with the help of the Jedi spirits, resurrected Rey, and she went on to defeat Sidious.
